Apply for an Adopt-a-Library

Through the Foundation's Adopt-a-Library program, your local library can receive CAI publications and resources valued at more than $1,500. Obtaining an Adopt-a-Library is simple. Just follow these steps:

  1. Recruit a sponsor to support your library by pledging $350. (Insurance firms, realtor firms, and other businesses that benefit from the community association industry are excellent sources for sponsorship. Your local CAI chapter may also be willing to sponsor or even host a library.)
  2. Formally request an Adopt-a-Library grant by completing an Adopt-a-Library application (MS Word) and return it by mail or email to . Be sure to identify the name and location of the library as well as your sponsor. The Foundation Executive Committee will review your request.
  3. The Foundation staff will notify you of the Executive Committee's decision. At that time, if your Adopt-a-Library request is accepted, your sponsor will be requested to submit the amount of your sponsorship for the library (if your sponsor hasn't done so already on the application).
  4. Following the receipt of your sponsor's credit card information or tax-deductible check, payable to the Foundation for Community Association Research, you will be sent the library materials and a model press release for your use.

Generate Positive Publicity

The presentation of Adopt-a-Library publications is an excellent event for local press and the surrounding community. The library sponsor and the CAI chapter gain recognition for the contribution. Photos of Adopt-a-Library presentations have been included in local newspapers and CAI chapter newsletters.
